Salon Freestyle
Salon Freestyle is traditionally for doing teddy bear styles on Oodles or Shih Tzu or Maltese breed styling or turning one breed into another breed. This year we are introducing coat carving and creative runway styling so anything goes in terms of cutting and carving the coat. You can carve a smooth coat or do a spiral design on any breed with a suitable coat. A small amount of colour or bling is permitted but not extreme or more than 10% of the dog
so ears feet and tail may be coloured.
a little chalk may be added
a little glue on bling ( no glitter for safety reasons) all products must be dog safe.
Again “no extreme colour “ this comp.
We are working towards full creative in Sydney.
this is to be subtle and tasteful
No Asian Fusion Styling - please enter asian fusion class on sunday.
Groomers entering with colour wil be required to discuss plans with the organiser
before the comp to ensure it is within guidelines
Times All dogs 2 hours
large breeds 2.15

A little bit of colour and bling and a whole lot of flare. The Kawai or Cute factor is everything here. Minimal colour permitted but not extreme all over.
Dogs must be groomed in Traditional Asian Fusion styles including Japanese,Korean and Thai variation.
In the Asian class it is important to your judge that you are able to present your dog in a typical Asian Style seen to date. Your finish and scissoring skills are an important part of this class along with symmetry and shape, in non-Symmetrical styles the judge will be looking for expression and cuteness along with neat scissor work.
Ensure your preparation of the coat is done to your highest level to give you the best chance at presenting a groom you can be proud of.
Colour permitted In keeping with Asian Fusion Styles.
Bling, bows and Accessories permitted as long as the judge can see the groom
Poodle Class

Poodles
Up to 35cm 1:45 hours
35cm up to 45cm 2:00 hours
Over 45 cm 2:15 hours
Large poodles may be required to commence grooming earlier while pre judging is completed due to time constraints.
Dogs with pre groomed feet face, throat and tail or for example, the body in continental will incur reduced time.
Poodle spray up time can be used at any time throughout grooming time.
Spray up extra 15 minutes (only to be used for spray up please advise when commencing spray ups)
Face – the muzzle may be Pre clipped but not the throat as setting of the pattern is part of the competition.
Feet - can be clipped before the competition begins.but bevels are not to be done. Only clipping the foot, itself
Tail set – must be done in the ring.
If feet face and tail is done in the ring additional 15 minutes is given.
Dogs who are clearly not in 6 to 8 weeks growth will have a reduced time allocated. It is very clear for example in a Continental or HCC if a dog had 3 weeks growth on the short area and clearly defined patterns. We appreciate you need to give yourself time to complete the groom however going in on a dog that was groomed 3 to 21 days prior is considered to be against rules of 6 to 8 weeks growth from the last groom. It is understandable some dogs grow faster than others. If you know your dog, please set it up to make a discernible change. A scissor tidy won’t be acceptable.
Poodles must be trimmed in a traditional breed standard trim.
Poodle Top Knot banding may be done before the competition begins.
Colouring is not allowed.
Spray is allowed for top knots.

Please welcome our First judge Dani Segal.
Dani has judged multiple competitions including judging and presenting a seminar to over 300 attendees at Mastergroom
Dani runs a highly successful salon in Mulgrave Victoria where she is solidly booked out a year in advance.
Dani has been grooming since the age of 19. She fell into grooming after high school and has never looked back.
Dani began competing just 1 year into her career, and, as a novice, placed 1st in her class with a Miniature Poodle, and 2nd with a Schnoodle in the Freestyle class. It was this that spurred her desire for knowledge, and her competitive spirit.
One highlight of her career was winning BIS at Melbourne Royal with a phantom Mini that she had been working on improving for several years in comps!
Another highlight so far, has been representing Australia on the 2017 Groom Team Australia team, which was a life changing experience and an honour, grooming an Australian Terrier in the hand strip class, becoming fondly known as the “Aussie with an Aussie” throughout the competition, and placing 14th in the world out of well over 20 countries! Proof that you can achieve anything you put your mind to!
Dani now strives to help and encourage others to compete and be the best that THEY can be. To learn, gain knowledge, and most importantly, to make memories and friends!
Dani appreciates the journey of the Competitors from entry level to Masters having experienced it first hand both in Australia and overseas.
Thank you Dani
